Since the 20th century, the Theory of Constructivism has gradually impacted on the theory and practice of pre-school education. Child is regarded as small adult no longer. With the same as adult , child is a dynamic principal but at different stages of development. Child is an actively Constructivist of knowledge. Interacting with the surrounding environment , child has been building his own conception about various things and phenomenon. Nowadays, more and more researchers have interesting in studying the children's conception and the conceptual change.This research has combinated the quantitative and qualitative to sutdy the 5 - 7-year-old children's conception of floating and sinking.The assumption is that the development of the 5 - 7-year-old children' s conception of floating and sinking shows the level of the following types:Level A:The child uses the objects' psychological factors to judge objects whether floating or sinking.Level B:The child mention some related or non-related characters of objects to judge objects whether floating or sinking.Level C:The child mention the hypostatic characters of objects to judge objects whether floating or sinking , but this judgement was wrong.Level D:The child mention the size of objects to judge objects whether floating or sinking.Level E:The child mention the weight of objects to judge objects whether floating or sinking.Level F:The child mention the weight of objects to judge objects whether floating of sinking. And the the related characters such as material, hollow and solid,breathed and astomatous,etc. are take into account.Level G:The child mention the objects' weight and size to judge objects whether floating or sinking. And the two standards of judgement are use in different situations.Level H: The child combine the objects' weight and size to judge objects whether floating or sinking.The conclusions of this research are as follows:1. The results confirmed the hypothesis. In addition to the level of G, the conception of floating and sinking of children who come from the several age groups such as 5-year-old group, 6-year-old group and the 7-year-old group has shown the same several levels such as a, b, c, d, e, f , h,etc. However, the level of the every age groups is different in the proportion of the number. Chi-square tests have shown that the development of the conception of floating and sinking has no significant differences in the 5-7-year old child who is different in sex.2. Most of 5 - 7-year-old children mention one characters of objects such as weight,size to judge the objects whether floating or sinking. And with these standards of judgement, the children construct legible conception of floating and sinking such as "the big things will float,and the small things will sink", "the heavy things will sink,and the light things will float".3. With the growth of age, the conception which of floating and sinking of the 5 - 7-year-old children become more sophisticated and scientific.4. At the stage of 5 - 6-year-old, the children' conception of floating and sinking changed fast.5. To a certain extent, educational conditions affect the development of the 5-7-year-old children's conception of floating and sinking.
