The concept of floating children comes out with the process of urbanization and with the migrant of rural surplus labor force to cities. In recent years, with the rural labor force migration becomes more and more" famililised", the number of migrant children has been greatly increased. Erickson divided human life into different stages, and pointed out that in different stages, the individual is facing different life tasks, puberty individual’s physiology and psychology are strongly changed like a violent storm and this stage is an important period of self-identity establishment. Whether the individual can complete the establishment of ego identity has a great relationship with people’s later development, has great influence on person’s life, and individual’s physiological and social factors together have impact on the establishment of ego identity self-identitythis paper has a brief analysis of Erickson’s self-identity theory and several unfavorable factors of floating children’s ego identity development when entering adolescence and they are:contradictions of floating children’s self consciousness, bias between self and social awareness, problems between family education manner and parent-child relationship, the lacking of teachers and qualified teaching condition for children of migrant workers, lacking of communication with peers from cities and so on. In migrant children’s gathering community, there is lacking of basic facilities, has poor sanitary conditions and exists negative evaluation about floating children groups under social mainstream culture and so on. This adverse environment restricts the development of the children’s self identity and does badly to their healthy growth.The last part of the article has a research on the principles and strategies of floating children’s ego identity development through school social work intervention in puberty children. Together with school case work, group work, community work and outreach work method, have a meso and micro optimization of the self-identity of floating children’s social development environment and promote the development of their ego identity.
