On The Construction Of Chinese Universities Research Counselors

To implement the spirit of "The Direction to Reinforcing and Improving the Ideological Education to College Students", the Department of Education published "The Regulation of Constructing the Team of Counsellors in Colleges and Universities" on July the 23rd, 2006. It is said that investigation and research should be part of counsellor's work, which proves that counsellors' work is becoming more professional and more sciential.Research-oriented counselor is a new type of counselor. Based on the history of counsellor in colleges and universities of our country, I discussed such basic questions as what is research-oriented counselor, what is the character and so on. As an individual, the development of research-oriented counselor should cover the following three aspects, including recognition, practice and thinking, which should be a long period of development. While as a whole, we should make a breakthrough in how to build a team of research-oriented counselor in colleges and universities. According to the individual mode of development, I suppose a 3-dimensional mechanism to build such a team, that is guarantee mechanism, promotion mechanism and enhancement mechanism. All the three mechanisms are supposed to be supported by the institution and organization of the team. At the end of my thesis I present some advise on how to create an appropriate environment for 3-dimensional mechanism. 1) We should pay attention to not only the need of students but also the need of counsellor. 2) We should be as creative as possible in the building a team of research-oriented counselor to keep its stability and activity. 3) We should form an echelon of talents for the team. 4) We should rationalize the relation between counsellor and different kind of organizations. 5) we should also strengthen the ability of research in the area of related theories.
