With the rapid development of social economy, the higher education increasingly calls for the cultivation of practical talents under the guidance of employment. Education serving as a tool for the realistic social economy has also become the key proposition of education notion of Pragmatism. Higher vocational education has thus been developed in this background, and has become an important part of higher education in China. The higher vocational education in China began to exist during the late 20th century, which has developed rapidly since then with thousands of higher vocational colleges emerging in endlessly. Some of them originally belonged to the secondary college of regular higher education institutions, some transferred from the colleges for adults, and some were promoted from the secondary vocational school, industrial school or secondary technical school, while others were schools set up by social sources. Nowadays, with the number of higher vocational schools and students increasing dramatically, there exist some problems in higher vocational colleges due to their lack in experience, realization level and pedagogy management. The success of Western higher vocational college mainly lies on the paradigm of co-operative education with industries, with close combination between learning at school and working practice in businesses. The educational administration authorities in China also set the above-mentioned paradigm as the only way that our higher vocational college must follow. This thesis compares and analyzes the current situation and problems of higher vocational colleges at home and abroad during the construction and development of higher vocational colleges and believes that it's extremely necessary to probe into the administrative construction, curriculum administration and faculty management of higher vocational colleges under the paradigm of co-operative education with industries.
