Culture is in close contact with language . Language is an important part of culture, and it plays an important role in culture's forming, developing and expressing Because of the close contact, children learned one nation's culture and tradition when they learned this nation's language. Following with the information age, a lot of kinds of culture spread into our country and brings impact on our traditional culture, the most of all is English culture. In order to maintain and enhance the culture safety of our nation, we must bring the education's use on educating middle school students to approve the culture of their own nation into full play. At the same time, as the increasing of the international communication, whether the communication is efficient or not, to a great extent depends on the appropriate expressing of language. In 2001, our country promulgated the New Curriculum Standard for English Language, culture awareness first appeared in curriculum standard. "Knowing the difference among different cultures, raising patriotic emotion, enhancing world awareness " also appeared in this standard. Under the direction of new curriculum concept, more and more English teachers have realized the importance of the culture teaching and the function in developing students' language applying skills. So, considering about whether the culture goal of English curriculum is reasonable ,whether the curriculum content is proper, whether the curriculum implementation is efficient, whether the curriculum evaluation is objective have important meanings.This thesis based on the relationship between language and culture. After comparing the different understandings about culture which was given by different scholars in various fields, the writer summarizes three features of culture and given the concept of culture which is in the New Curriculum Standard, "In English teaching, culture refers to the total Patterns of history, geography, traditions, customs, ways of life, arts, verbal and nonverbal beliefs and values that characterize the life of the English Speaking countries. This thesis also prefers to classify culture to two types: knowledge culture and communicative culture, and analyses the junior English textbooks according to this kind of classification.According to seeing through each aspects of curriculum development, we can get message about the trend of culture that applied to junior English curriculum under the new curriculum reform. Seeing through the goal of curriculum, we can know what culture means in junior English curriculum and understand the specific goal of culture teaching. From analyzing the culture factors in three typical English textbooks, we know there are similarities and also have some problems ,such as neglecting the nonverbal communication and arranging too much culture factors in one unit .Talking about the theory bases of culture teaching .And then analysis the necessities of infiltrating culture teaching in junior school English teaching and the principles followed in culture teaching. English curriculum evaluation now faced obstacles, including value of diplomanism and teachers' trend.The social survey which is about the culture teaching in the teaching practice show us, there are several problems exist: teachers' culture knowledge are not enough, they have the deficiency of cross-culture awareness; the practice of culture teaching is not in the full play; students' need about culture can't be satisfied perfectly. In order to resolve all the problems perfectly, this thesis try to find the better way of culture teaching. First, teachers should have the value of cross-culture teaching, treating students in a correct and concerned way. Second, deeply appreciate the culture factors in the textbooks; pay more attentions to culture's diversity and complexity. Third, bring the merits of our nation's culture into full play; urge the goal of English culture teaching to be localization.
