So called Group Teaching Method means in class teaching, for a certain teaching method, based on the students'cognitive ability, reasonably and effectively selecting a group of mathematical problems. The Method requires solving a series of related problems rather than single ones, so as to achieve the purpose of profound understanding, mastering rules, consolidating skills and practicing thinking. The Method is summarized in long-period teaching practice. Masses of math teachers apply the Method both consciously and unconsciously, accumulating rich practicing experience. But how to apply the Method scientifically has not been settled, so as to seriously influence the spread of the Method. Therefore, furthering the teaching method and finding out a practice way of using it so as to improve teaching reform and promote the students'problem-solving ability is of vital importance. The essay is focused on how to apply Group Teaching Method to improve the students'problem-solving ability, of which the main research means include documentaries, experiments and surveys, etc. To begin with, the essay makes a theoretical analysis of problem-solving ability. Then based on a survey of the teaching presence, it puts forward three emphases of the Method. First, find a right starting point, such as introduction of definitions or rules, solving of difficult points, revelation of rules, consolidation of correction, etc. Second, strategically applying the Method, which includes typical, oriented and developing problems; regular and common approaches; connected form and easy to imitate and summarize. Third, the approaches should be practical. In the process of applying the Method, the students'developing mathematical way of solving the problems should be valued. And the orientated position of the students should be highlighted actively, unconsciously, independently and creatively. Finally, in the essay the strategies above are compared in teaching practice. Through comparison the effectiveness of the methods is confirmed, so as to realize the effects of improving overall teaching quality.
