The Sibeichai is one of the North Manchurian Railway survey villages in North China, and ,in 1939 to 1942 period, the Japanese scholars have done a comprehensive survey of its population, land, taxes and so on, and collected a large amount of information to lay a good foundation for the study of the North China village community. As the focus of the investigation during this period, the Sibeichai, one of the six villages, became the object of study of many scholars, especially the well-known American scholars, Prasenjit Duara and Philip C.C. Huang.They wonderfully discoursed the population, ethnic, religious, economic and political situations of the village through the Manchurian Railway informations.Although they don't do the field survey, their academic achievements have provided an important foundation for the follow-up study of the North China village. The author did a follow-up study about the Sibeichai, collected the informations of the population, ethnic, economic, political, customs, etc. of the village through the field research,and discussed the relationship between the village economy and the clan cohesion to reflect the changes in the situation of the village clans.The main contents and the structure of the thesis are as follows:The first chapter is the Introduction. This chapter introduces the topic's background and significance of the paper, then reviewed the relevant research, and described the general content and structure of the paper, and finally introduced the research perspectives and methods of the thesis.The second chapter introduces the overview of the Sibeichai to conduct a comprehensive introduction. Section I introduces the geographical profile of the village in order to understand the ecological and cultural background. Section II systematically describes the population, livelihoods, industry, clan, political, security, religious and so on to understand the economic and social profiles of the village.The third chapter recalls the situation of the village economy and clan of the Sibeichai in the 1930s. Section I describes the village's economy, land status and the differentiation of the villagers and carry out a proper analysis. Section II discusses the situation of the village's clans of the Sibeichai in the 1930s, through the relationship between the "blood" and "touch" , the function of clans, the nature of villages and so on , analyses of the relation between the village economy and clans , and describes the status of the clan cohesion.The fourth chapter describes the today's Sibeichai. Section I describes the development of the village as a whole overview of economic through the village's urbanization, the way of the livelihood of the villagers, the consumption of the villagers, and the housing of the villagers . Section II describes the situations of the clan ,and analyzes the structure of the clan, symbolic rituals , clans and the politics in the villages,tribe fields, ancestors.The fifth chapter is the conclusion, summarize the main points and come to the conclusion.
