In southern Jiangsu, its social development goes through three stages: people's commune, the southern Jiangsu mode which the town and township enterprise of this district is flourishing and the high-speed development of clan enterprise. Agreeing with the change of social development mode in this area, clan culture also presents three stages: dispelling, maintaining and reviving.By using of sociological theories and methods, I make the field work in Jiao village which lies in southern Jiangsu. The study shows material form and main function of traditional village's clan culture. On the basis, it reveals main powers which results in the transformation of this culture mode. Firstly, involving in village of mainstream society is external power. Secondly, elite group, who includes cadres, man residing in a place far away from clan, and etc, lead the transformation at the internal village. Thirdly, as member of the clan and owner of the village, peasants also play important role in this transformation.According to the above description and analysis, we can draw the following conclusion: though the clan culture of rural society begins to revive in southern Jiangsu, it is difficult to become mainstream culture in the village.
