Higher vocational education is the main front for training high-quality and application-based talent in our socialist modernization drive, who will be first all-round and harmoniously developed. Currently, students in higher vocational colleges possess distinct personalities; so, to reinforce individuality education during the process of ideological and political education for college students is becoming increasingly significant, which, therefore, becomes one of the major tasks in the research of ideological and political education for college students. This paper probes into individuality education during the process of ideological and political education for college students.Guided by the Marxism, borrowing ideas from the research findings of philosophy, sociology, psychology and pedagogy, and synthetically using survey procedure, experience-summarizing method, respective analysis and summing-up method, the paper analyzes the significance of individuality education during the process of ideological and political education for college students, probes into its problems and their reasons, puts forward its main content, and makes clear the principles and ways of carrying put this procedure according to the characteristics of vocational college students. The paper is divided into fore parts.Part one introduces the definition of personality and individuality education in scientific field and analyzes the necessity and significance of individuality education during the process of ideological and political education for college students.Part two explains in detail the problems concerning the educational content, educational method, student management team and the construction of campus culture when carrying out individuality education during the process of ideological and political education for college students. Also, this part analyzes the reasons of the above-mentioned problems in view of the objective factors and subjective factors.Part three mainly puts forward the major content of individuality education, that is, the cultivation of independence, creation and responsibility.In part four, the paper, considering the characteristics of the students in higher vocational colleges, puts forwards the principles of individuality education, namely, overall and autonomy principle, principle of pertinence and pertinence, principle of chronicity and penetrability. And then, the paper brings forward the seven ways to carry out individuality education, that is, by setting up the management system of teaching and schooling favorable for the form of students'personalities, by constructing the curriculum system suitable for the development of students'personalities, by setting up the evaluation system favorable for the form of students'personalities, by attaching importance to the construction of campus culture relying on the campus environmental construction, by improving teachers'quality and forming new-type relationship between teachers and students, by highly valuing practicalness of activities concerning ideological and political education and practical activities of students in higher vocational colleges, and by giving full scope to the initiative and self-education of college students.
