Clan And Rural Community Development

From the era of reform,the rural community construction in China gradually became a difficult problem.Especially in recent years,the government and the academia pay more attention on the problem of village.It is the time to look back at Chinese experience on this historic problem of community construction in village,when the outburst of global economic crisis draws the attention from all the world to China.In the term of new village construction in China,the discussion on the lineage resource is consistently weak,because each subject used to study it only from its respective features as well as constraints.Historical research often focuses on the lineage itself rather than the relation of lineage and rural community construction.At least it pays no attention on the relation of lineage and modern rural community construcion.Besides,historical research take the lineage as the relics in museum to make archaeological exhumation.The research of sociology/anthropology often consider the modern lineage as the remaining segments of traditional lineage due to the lack of historical knowledge,therefore,their conclusion is usually to keep the episodic functions of lineage while to neglect its whole meaning.This dissertation combines varied materials from Chinese classics,social history,sociology and anthropology to make systematic theoretical discussion about the lineage and modern rural community construction.The research of Chinese classics contains the basic principles of lineage,the discourse of social history displays the transformation process of lineage,the materials of sociology and anthropology provide varied representation of modern lineage and status quo of rural community construction.This dissertation learns the strong points from all the subjects to offset their weaknesses,in order to motivate the vitality of long-standing traditional resource to serve the present Socialism new rural construction.The discussion about lineage organization also gives a new perspective for the organizational research in sociology,and maybe can overthrow the general issues about modern organizational resources,norms and means.Besides,it is also a reflexive way to re-examine lineage for the modern civilization.Therefore,this dissertation attempts to make innovation in research methodology as well as in the theoretical field.
