Different from existing related researches, this paper adopts "Dual-Dimension Assortative Mating Scheme" to analyze societal openness in China. Based on the datasets from CGSS2006, the author incorporates educational level as well as Hukou status of both husbands' and wives' into log-linear models to test three kinds of intermarriage:endogamous intermarriage, status-exchange intermarriage and in-group preference intermarriage. Besides, this paper also tries to figure out the historical trend. According to the results:in the pre-reform stage (1952-78), the dominating pattern for intermarriage is status-exchange mating; while such trend has been weakened during the initial stage of the reform (1979-92); in reform deepening stage(1993-2006), Hukou closure for educational intermarriage has become more rigid, which indicates that although educational heterogamy rate has becoming higher, the societal openness in China is still declining during the past five decades.
