The sociologist E.W.Burgess said:"animal seeks a mate, but human marriage. Seeking mate is biological, but marriage is social and cultural."The conclusion of marriage is not driven by physiological instinct,but"the result of cultural lure".Ma- rriage is impacted and restricted by various social customs,moral,norms and system.According to the Yao nationality'traditions and customs, they've never married the other nationalities, and also ashamed of marrying people of the same surname.Since reform and opening to the outside world,many young people go out for work, the author finds it increasing gradually that people marry the other nationalities or the same ones from their own village."the same surname"and intermarriage with the other nationalities are on longer problems for young people to seek mates.Their marriage is far different from their fathers'.These changes result from the promotion of reform and opening to the outside world during 30 years, and furthermoer, become an epitome of the cultural changes of Yao. There- fore, the auther think that it is a very good perspective to interprete and know moer about the changes of the Yao society.Intermarriage circle is a key factor of marriage. Its change is the barometer of marriage change. The author intends to study the change of marriage culture about the Yao nationality on the base of intermarriage circle, in order to interprete the change of national society.Going out for work, population floating, foreign culture, economic change and the traditional culture all play important roles for promoting or restricting the intermarriage circle change. It's worthy for people to concern and think about the impact of the involution or expansion of the intermarriage circle of the ethnic rural areas in the future.
