Teacher professional development has become the core topics of education research. For information technology (IT) teachers of middle schools, their professional development appears more difficult. Because of some complex factors, such as basic education environment, institution and the structure of teaching staff, the professional development of IT teacher face severe challenges. With the rise of teacher-centered outlook on teacher professional development, the research should achieve certain converting, paying more attention to the working and living state and emotional problems of IT teacher. Therefore, the research of this problem is very necessary today, and it also has vital significance. This thesis puts professional identity as the theme, and researches the inward development of IT teachers. Through the questionnaire survey and in-dept interview to IT teachers of middle schools, this thesis learns about the present situation and characteristic of professional identity of IT teachers, and focuses on two questions:(1) basic level and overall condition of IT teacher professional identity; (2) forming process, characteristic and influence factors of IT teacher professional identity. Around these problems, the thesis which contains three major parts conducts in-depth exploration and study.The first part:definition and literature reviewThe thesis analyzes and summarizes related researches at home and abroad from two aspects in this part. Based on meta-analysis of related document literature, the thesis finds that the study of strategy and mode holds very large proportion in research of IT teacher professional development, the research about the emotion is lacking yet. In the research of teacher professional identity, the research about the level and differences of professional identity for specific teachers is a hot topic.The second part:quantitative research of IT teacher professional identity of middle schoolQuantitative research is conducted on the basis of questionnaire survey, censuses and analyses overall level and difference status of IT teacher professional identity. Based on several methods, such as the descriptive statistical analysis, independent-samples T test and one-way ANOVA, this thesis reaches several conclusions:(1) the professional identity of IT teacher in middle school is slightly above average; (2) in the mass, there is no significant difference for the professional identity of IT teacher in middle school according to gender, educational background, professional title, the type of school and school location, but there is significant difference according to teaching age and monthly income.The third part:qualitative researchThis thesis uses interview method for three typical IT teachers in part of qualitative research. Through their narration and the communication between the author and them, this thesis mainly analyzes the five characteristics and four factors of formation and development of IT teacher professional identity.At the end of the thesis, according to the results of quantitative research and qualitative research, the author reflects current situation and the research process and puts forward several suggestions so as to enhance professional identity of IT teachers and promote their professional development.
