Into Real Stepfamilies

With the population growth of divorce, remarrige afer the dissolution become a remarkable social phenomenon. Based on a sample survey of 221 stepfamilies in Shanghai, this paper investigates the situation and membership in remarried families, and analyse the factors that impact re-marital relationship.It is found that, compared with First marriage family, stepfamlies are with different characteristics: the divorced are more careful before remarriage, and more than half (53.8 %) of the divorced person in living together before marriage; 90.7% respondents and their kinship networks keep non-intervention and supportive attitude to remarriage. But the negative impression is still exist in the public, as well as the remarried pressure and psychological tension are universal: more than half of them are confronted with financial difficulties, work stress, family care and other issues.Compared to the previous marriage and single life after divorce, remarriage are now a relatively happy life and good step-relationships. The results indicate: firstly, pre-marital children is a significant effect on the relationship between husband and wife. Secondly, the higher social status the higher the degree of marital satisfaction. Thirdly, years of education and marital satisfaction are positively correlated. Fourthly, the marriage value judgments and attitudes are significantly affect the relationship between husband and wife. Fifthly, How to consider the prior marriage has significantly impact on the marital relationship of remarriage family, those who believe that divorce is a wise / right decision keep the better marital relationship. Finally, the social prejudice for remarriage is negative impact on marital relationship.
