In contemporary society, colleges and universities are charged with the important mission of the modernization of human resources training, in order to improve the ideological and moral quality of the whole nation. If we want to strengthen ideological and political work, we must establish a correct political direction. The ideological and political education for Independent college students is not only an important component but also one of the main positions of ideological and political education of college students. The independent institutions are confronted many new challenges and are weak in many sides, therefore, they have to make better their work measures and strengthen their social practices.To begin with, the paper describes the independent institute's formation background, school characteristic and significance; independent college student ideological and political education's meaning and status; theoretical foundation; research methods; innovation. Based on the investigation, we describe the independent college student ideological and political education's present situation. Survey results show that most students are good while a few people are underperforming. Most students have correct outlook on life while a few students have confused and practical outlook on life. Most students are concerned with national affairs while a few people are not interested in politics. Most students led very moral life while a few students'perform show a decline in moral standards. Most students have become increasingly legal-conscious at university while a few students are indifferent to legal documents. Then we need to analyze what went wrong and find out the reason for the independent college student ideological and political. It is well known that the impact of social environment are regarded the first factor; campus environment is the second; model of ideological and political course followed it. In the end, the paper deals with the independent college student ideological and political education's countermeasures.
