With the constantly deepening of socialist transformation in our country and fierce competition of market economy, the role of performance evaluation in modern enterprise management is becoming more and more important. The establishment of effective performance evaluation system is of great significance to motivate employees within work and enhance their creativity, as well as to increase value output and value-added ability of the enterprise. After the completion of share reform within the four major state-owned banks, banking industry in our country is increasingly developing and expanding. Meanwhile, there are many elements directly affecting the development of state-owned banks such as the rising shareholding commercial banks, settlement of foreign banks, etc. Lying in the middle of the strategic position, from the headquarter to provincial branch and then to bank outlets, county branch, as a connecting link between the top and the bottom, is in the face of bottleneck of development in fierce competition:inefficient work, backward management which urge the bank to perfect performance evaluation system with the least delay possible. It is a great important project about the future development that to establish and optimize the performance evaluation system.This paper aims to make a study of KPI design in bank branch. Under the guidance of modern performance management theory, this paper gives a comprehensive analysis of the current situation of performance evaluation in county branch based on the actual condition of the state-owned commercial development and a certain commercial bank. At last this paper provides solutions to improve performance evaluation system. Method of this study is empirical research combined with the modern theory of performance evaluation.Based on the analysis of the present situation of branch performance evaluation system, this paper reasonably adjusts performance evaluation from provincial branch, and then put it into effect layer-by-layer from the perspective of the theory of target management, key performance indicators (KPIs),360-degree feedback, etc. The redesign of performance evaluation system will improve the employees’work enthusiasm and initiative, enhance the staffs creativity, and promote better development of county branch. Meanwhile this paper also hopes that it provides a reference for other banks to revise the evaluation scheme.
