With the development of society, human demand for land is increasing. The excessive reclamation and unreasonable use of land result that the limited land resources are deteriorating gradually, the land ecological performance is declining and the sustainable use of capacity is reducing. While, land is the material foundation to the survival of human, deterioration of land resources seriously affects the sustainable development of human beings. So, it is urgent to strengthen the management of land resources and improve the land resources situations; study on sustainable use of land resources is very necessary.The paper combs the ecological footprint theory and emergy theory firstly, based on this, from the perspective of emergy sources and use of land resources, constructs emergy-ecological footprint model of land resources. Then according to the constructed model, calculates the land resources ecological carrying capacity and ecological footprint, analyzes the sustainable use of land resources with ecological deficit/surplus per capita, sustainable development index, ecological footprint diversity index and ecological footprint per ten thousand yuan GDP. Finally, takes Shanxi Province as an example for empirical study: analyzes land resources sustainable use of Shanxi Province in 2000-2012; analyzes spatial difference of land resources sustainable use among all the cities in Shanxi Province with ArcGIS software; forecasts the sustainable use situation of land resources in Shanxi Province through the grey prediction model. Conclusion is derived as follow by the research:First, the land resources ecological carrying capacity per capita has small fluctuation of Shanxi Province in 2000-2012; as a whole, the trend is on the decline. The ecological footprint per capita increases rapidly, with the average annual growth rate of 9.02%. The average percentage of energy resources ecological footprint per capita is 87.71%, the ecological influence on land resources is great. Land resources are in unsustainable development state, the ecological system is unstable, while, the resource production efficiency is increasing year by year.Second, around the city in Shanxi Province, land resources sustainable use has large differences, but they are all in a state of ecological deficit with weak sustainable development ability.Third, the land resources of Shanxi Province in 2013-2022 are still in a state of ecological deficit. The ecological deficit per capita will increase year by year, land resources ecological situation is still deteriorating, but the deterioration speed will slow compared with 2000-2012.Around the problems of land resources sustainable use, the article puts forward corresponding strategies and suggestions, which can provide data support and related reference for promoting sustainable use of land resources in Shanxi Province.
