| In May 2015, China manufacturing 2025 planning came out, which emphasized the significance of the development of manufacturing industry. Although manufacturing industry obtained the certain achievement after several years of development, there is still a long distance compared with developed countries. As the economic reform and opening up, Guangdong province, has made great improvement since Deng Xiaoping put forward the claim that "science and technology is the primary productive force" in 1988, at the same time, the electronic information industry cluster area was formed in the east area of Pearl river. While the electrical machinery industry cluster zone formed in the west area of Pearl river. Considering the characteristics of the manufacturing industry agglomeration in Guangdong province, this article selects the data of Guangdong province from 1990 to 2014, the present situation of industrial cluster in Guangdong province and upgrading of industry structure is studied in this article. Furthermore, this article studied the influence of industrial agglomeration on manufacturing structure upgrading from theoretical and empirical perspective.The study of industry cluster in Guangdong province and the manufacturing industry structure upgrading based on the frontier of economic reform, From the research before, the study of industry cluster has been very mature, but the definition of manufacturing upgrading research is unclear during the paper we have read. This article based on the reading literature, defined the meaning of the industrial upgrading, research the impact of industry cluster and upgrading of the manufacturing structure. Through the literature reading, the result of the influence on the mechanism are analyzed and expounded. This article build index system research from the value of output structure, labor structure, technical structure and asset structure four angles. And the research establish the VEC model, through the granger causality test, impulse response and variance decomposition.Through the empirical analysis, the results and theoretical analysis are consistent, although industry agglomeration does not have significantly impact on the manufacturing industry structure upgrading in the short term, but in the long term, industrial agglomeration can promote the upgrading of manufacturing industry structure. In addition, R&D also shows positive influence on the manufacturing industry structure upgrading. What is more, the coefficient of producer services and foreign direct investment in the equation is significant, the producer services has positive effect on manufacturing industry structure upgrading, this is the result of the coordinated development between manufacturing industry and producer services. However, FDI did not play a positive influence in the final result.In order to upgrading the structure of manufacturing industry structure,the government may focus on infrastructure and the connection of enterprise with scientific research institution. And the government should also make efforts to develop the industrial agglomeration area. Speeding up the development of producer services is also important. What is more, the government should also increase the investment on R&D in artificial intelligence manufacturing. |
