Banking industry has received great impact since the rate-marketization started. The banking total assets and net profit have slipped at a big margin. However banking industry posseses a inplace position in structural transformation of the economy. Intermediary business grasped the attention of bankers for its low cost, low risk and high yiled, which expands so fast in recent years that grows into one of three pillar industrial of commercial banking development if China. Nevertheless the experience of intermediary business development of commercial banking in other countries reveals that expanding intermediary business blindly might not increase business performance, oppositely it might ruin the operation of commercial banking. Therefore how to expand intermediary business equitably and to increase efficiency are the issues that we must attach importance to.Based on this phonomenon, I focus on making judgement on the development of intermediary business in commercial banking of China through study on the contribution extent that intermediary business makes to commercial banking, thus to put forward suggestions on how to expand intermediary business as well as improve banking performance. Choosing 16 business banks those come into the market in China as sample and pick out data from year 2009 to 2014, I make conclusion of the intermediary business development and business performance of these 16 commercial banks, then draw 15 target performances and estimate marks of these banks using factor analysis method. After this step the rate of contribution that intermediary business makes to performance of these banks could be concluded through mess data analysis which puts forward the conclusion that intermediary business does not affect banking performance at a great scale and intermediary business development of shareholding banks receives much more attention than that of nationalized banks. Finally based on empirical research I make equitably suggestions to intermediary business development from the macroscopic view and microcosmic view.
