The right direction means enormously to the future of the company. In the first chapter, the external and internal environments of the company are first analyzed and the pros and cons are pointed out. The SWOT model is used to categorize the two market environments and the result is in support of the long term strategy in some extent. Then the relevant competition strategies are proposed. The third chapter compares the company with some of world-class competitors in terms of tank models, ages, and tonnage, and points out the restructuring direction and measures by equipping it with reasoning of strategic planning and market competition principles. The forth chapter describes the concept of benchmarking management that has influential leverage over the possibility of accomplishing the goals, and conclude it with some concerns to implement benchmarking. The fifthchapter summarizes varieties of risks the company might encounter when executing the plans, like risks in fares, safety, exchange rates, interest rates, and business, etc, and proposed the respective countermeasures. As said in this thesis, China Shipping Tanker Company must grasp opportunities while meeting challenges, stabilize the domestic share while actively seeking to expand business in export and third nation sectors, in the guideline of maximizing shareholder value.
