Alumina is the basic and important raw material for the electrolyzed aluminum industry , and it is made of bauxite resources. Thus, the preservation tactic of bauxite resources is directly related to the sustainable development of Chinese electrolyzed aluminum industry in the future.The Aluminum Corporation of China limited (CHALCO) is the largest supplier of aluminum in our country, and the second largest supplier all over the world. CHALCO has been made much more achievements in recent years though its increment in occupying and controlling amount of bauxite resources could not meet the need for its increase in Alumina production. Obviously, CHALCO will face hard situation what tactic should be taken to get sustainable supply of bauxite resources through its owning and controlling resources home and abroad in coming decades.Based on the relevant theories on strategy management and resources economics, the preservation strategy of bauxite resources of CHALCO has been put forward after the author has systematically analyzed CHALCO's situation faced home and abroad. The content of preservation stragegy is focused on: strengthening intensity of gaining resources and prospecting of resources, further strengthening jointly adventure, improving self-owned mines, quickening the construction of new mines, doing much more investigation into utilizing bauxite of low grade, owning or controlling the bauxite resources home and abroad, approaching the aim in getting sustainable and stable supplies of theresources. Meanwhile, the condition, steps, measures, and operation techniques, which ensure the strategy to run smoothly, have been given.
