This thesis focuses on the research to Walmart logistics system. Based on acombination of relative theory and Walmart's practical experience, this thesis does acomprehensive analysis to the operations of Walmart Distribution Centers and describesthe importance of Walmart Distribution Centers to Walmart's development. To improvethe logistics system of retail industry is the only way for China retail industry to breakthrough the bottleneck of development and achieve real progress. At this stage, ifChinese retail companies want to realize the modernization and compete with the foreigngiants in the retail industry, they must leverage on advanced management and theoperation system of chain stores. They must learn advanced experience in developing thelogistics system of both China and foreign retail companies, redefine the developingmode of the logistics system of China retail industry, and create a unique way fordevelopment based on the fact of imbalance of China retail industry and thediversification of China retail business model. For the large retail enterprises, this meansto build up and improve the modern logistics system and distribution centers of their own,which can help to integrate the organization's internal resources, to coordinate theactivities of different department, and to improve their own competitiveness;for thesmall and medium enterprises, it will be a great waste of social resources and willprevent the coordinated development of economy and society if they take theabove-mentioned method. Thus, to develop the third-party logistics and to set up thecomprehensive distribution centers are the most effective methods for them. They arealso the emphasis of the development of the logistics system of the whole retail industryin China. Meanwhile, we need to re-examine the current status of the logistics systembefore we upgrade the logistics system of China retail industry. In conclusion, our targetis to develop China retail industry, our cut-in point is the logistics system of China retailindustry. Only through this way could we find a sustainable competitive advantage,rather than comparative advantage for China retail industry. It is a unique way to developthe industry from outside to inside, first to be stronger and then to be larger.
