This paper aims at crafting the competitive strategy in the acrobatic performingmarket for Chaoyang Theater. With the theory of marketing management, it helps thetheater to identify the performing market segments in Beijing and to select the targetmarket. Using the five-forces model of competition, the author analyses the theater'sindustry and competitive environment. With SWOT analysis, the author provides a briefoverview of the theater's overall situation, including its strengths and weaknesses incomparison with its competitors as well as the opportunities and threats. Certainly all theanalyses are based on the investigation of the target market.Under the guide of the theories of strategic management, this paper drawsconclusions that Chaoyang Theater should identify the strategy of overall low-costprovider as its short-term competitive strategy and take strategic alliances anddiversification operation as its middle and long-term competitive strategy. This paper alsoprovides the actions and measures that facilitate strategy implementation and execution.With the further reform of the cultural system in China, the competition between therivals in the cultural industry is increasingly fierce. According to the incomplete statistics,there are about 2000 theaters in China and only several large theaters in Beijing andShanghai can make good profits, most theaters being in poor conditions and bad shape.The author finds out through this research that one of the important reasons for thisphenomenon is the lack of competitive strategies on the part of these theaters.
