Chain store retail business model was originally created in western countries. This model can meet the daily requirements of consumer quite well because it can supplement the convenient shopping places where the department stores and supermarkets can't reach. In recent years, it has been developed rapidly in our country. Lots of companies related with the chain store have arisen in the market. The author of this thesis intends to build an index evaluation system model to be used for estimating the competence of all chain stores in the market. It will help the chain store companies know its own strength and weakness clearly, and also the competitors. It will provide some helpful advice and reference to the corporate managers to contrive effective business strategies assisting the company to win the success in the competition.At the beginning, the commercial model of the chain store is analyzed. It is followed with an analysis and all-sided summary of the market competence of chain store. The quick part of this thesis focuses on setting up an index evaluation system for valuing the competence of chain stores. With the help of the Hiberarchy Analysis method as a means and also under the synthesis of business management theory, statistics, economics and marketing & sales theory, a more general index evaluation system for estimating the market competence of chain stores was finally built up. This evaluation system is an integrative network system with several arrangements. It is contrived according to the scientific, operable, systematic and comparable principles for endeavoring to show the integration competence objectively and scientifically.For its future practical application of this evaluation system, this thesis has done an estimate analysis of each index in it. The estimate method of all index and data follows the practical, reliable and comparable rules. It tries to make the data collection easy, feasible and also make the adoptive method more reliable so that the practicability and reliability of this evaluation system are promoted greatly.At the end, the thesis provides two practical cases of two big chain store companiesnamed "H Company" and "F Company" in Hebei province. The market competence of these two companies has been analyzed roundly and systematically by means of applying the method given by the evaluation system. The evaluation results are in accord with the actual business status of these two companies. So the cases help prove the availability and feasibility of this evaluation system.
