This article is a study about the design of the virtual teamperformance appraisal which discusses how to take advantage ofperformance appraisal to improve the virtual team's performance. Thearticle also argues that in order to maximize the virtual team's performance,the appraisal process should combine the performances of group and groupmembers, which includes the result, behavior and competency as a whole. Inaddition, the article designs two criterions to select the appropriateappraisers. Finally, bringing the concept of life cycle into virtual teamperformance appraisal, the article generalizes several steps of virtual teamperformance appraisal and designs a blue print consisting of who, when,how to appraise the virtual team and appraise what.
