Since China's accession to the WTO, foreign IT application service providers,equipped with their rich industry experience and brand advantage, have begun to enterinto the Chinese market, adding to the already fierce competition of the IT productmarket in China. Domestic IT application providers must act promptly in response tothe challenge and carry out improvements in respect of strategic vision, marketingapproaches, IT service capabilities and supply chain management in order to obtaincompetitive advantage.TS Computer System Co. Ltd., as one of the IT application service providers(hereinafter the "TS Company" or the "Company"), finds itself increasingly confrontedwith product diversity, shorter product life span and higher customer demand typicallyprevailing in the high-tech industry. As a result, TS Company finds itself compelled tomake timely adjustments to face up to new challenges brought about by changes in thecompetitive market.Investigation finds serious defects in the supply chain and logstics management ofTS Company. Such defects do not bode well for future development of the Company.This thesis is prepared to provide supply chain opinions and suggestions as to how TSCompany may extricate itself of the difficulties. Main contents of this thesis are asfollows:Firstly, major existing procurement defects are identified, including:(1) out of date procurement cost control methods;(2) lack of cooperation with suppliers;(3) high inventory;(4) out of date means of data communication.Further, resolution of the defects, including:(1) an analysis of the above defects and explorations into origins of defects;(2) theoretical basis for defect rectification;(3) detailed solutions and procedures;(4) successful applications of relevant theories.Final portion of the thesis summarizes that supply chain management process of TSCompany is one that involves change of mindset and mutual collaboration betweenvarious departments of the Company.Throughout each chapter, this thesis applies theories as taught by the thesissupervisor as well as experiences and lessons learnt from practical cases collected by theauthor during the years of graduate schooling. It is the author's hope that through theparticular perspective of this thesis, the skills learnt during the graduate years can bethereby summed up and reported.
