The chain-store business model was originally start from United States andEurope countries in early 20th century. After more than one hundred yearsdevelopment, this kind of enterprises have established their business in manycountries across the world. They not only gave deep impact to the global retail andservice industry, but also overall economy, social culture and people's life in manydeveloping and developed countries. The author make comprehensive analysis for thehistory background, social economic condition, developing strategy and managementtheory of foreign chain store companies. Research the developing path, currentsituation and the impact to social economy in China for many international chain storecompanies since they started to entry China market in 1980's. She also analyze thedeveloping path, current situation, achievement and challenge of Chinese domesticchain store companies. Based on the commitment of WTO agreement signed by Chinese government in2001, Chinese government will gradually open China market for international chainstore companies since 2004. This thesis also analyze the prospect for these companiesin China after 2004, and how Chinese domestic chain store companies achievesuccess when facing furious competition from international giants. After widely reviewing research paper of many domestic and foreign scholar andexpert, author analyzes the developing condition, developing strategy andmanagement theory for the chain store business. Find out the existing problem ofdomestic chain store enterprises in China, and provide solution to solve theseproblems, and give theoretic and practical comment and suggestion for theseenterprises to make effective developing policies. The main point of this thesis is: chain store business model is main stream ofmodern retail and service business, international giants have realized this long timeago, they started to entry China market since 1980's and made and implemented longterm business strategy in China. They also speed up their steps at post-WTO age.Although domestic chain store enterprises have made great progress after many yearsdevelopment, but they are still facing tough, unique challenge. They can only survive,develop and grow after fully studying advance technology and experience fromforeign counterpart and combine their own advantage.
