Quantitative Analysis Of The Urbanization Development In Sichuan Province

Sichuan , a big agricultural province, it's low-level urbanized advancement has affected the region economy development. The progress of industrial structure's upgrade and the rural people transforming to urban people has been affected by the low-level urbanized advancement at the same time. Many questions with relation to the reform of rural area in"The fifteenth five-year plan"concern with the urbanization directly or indirectly. Realizing the comprehensive well-off society and constructing the harmonious society need the corporate development between the city and the countryside. Therefore I analyse the present urbanization level of Sichuan province from the quantitative prospective in this paper, and I give the advisement on this basis.We define the rate of the urban population to the total population as"the people's urbanization", we can get the time series data of"the people's urbanization"from the year 1991 to 2003.The data is from"the Sichuan Statistic Yearbook"and the Sichuan statistics bureau who investigate the population. In 2003 the numeric of the people's urbanization is 30.1 percent. According the"S"curve of urbanized development, when the urbanized level excels the number of 30 percent, yet not achieved the number of 70 percent, it can be called"the intermediate stage of urbanization". Therefore, The people's urbanization of Sichuan just enters the intermediate stage.On the basis of urbanization's definition and connotation, I select 14 index to weigh the level of synthetical urbanization. These index cover the aspects of economics, the industrial structure, the social development and the city-facility-construction. Using the factor analysis, we can calculate the numeric of synthetical urbanization from 1991 to 2003.Thus we have two sequences.
