Inventory control is an important part of the production and operations management of a production enterprise. Enhancement of inventory control is an effective means to increase the vigor and reduce the production cost of an enterprise. However, the problems of unreasonable inventory control strategy and serious overstock are ubiquitous in many production enterprises of our country which make them remain high inventory cost and lack capability to deal with the turn of the market. With each passing day, inventory has become the bottle neck which restricts the survival and development of the enterprise.This thesis takes SSB as its research object. It researches on the inventory control methods of an enterprise from three parts----raw material inventory, work-in-progress inventory and finished product inventory. It applies the modern inventory control theories and methods to settle the inventory control problems of an enterprise.This thesis divides into six parts.The first part introduces the background and research value of this thesis and summarizes the present home and overseas situation of the research on inventory control.The second part is the introduction of the ABC of inventory control including the concept, purpose, classification and function.The third part introduces the basic state, present state of enterprise inventory control and main existing problems of the enterprise that the thesis researches on----SSB.The fourth part researches on the raw material inventory control methods of an enterprise. Problems of raw material inventory are mainly in two aspects, inaccurate material purchase plan and lag of information transfer. An enterprise can implement EOQ-VMI inventory control method to control the raw material inventory. The thesis has also analyzed the economic profit of an enterprise's implementing EOQ-VMI. Meanwhile, an enterprise shall also strengthen the cooperation between its inside and outside.The fifth part focuses on the problems of lack in ability to control the production plan and mess of workshop locale management. Then it brings forward to apply MRP to improve the workshop operation schedule and production progress, implement a production operation mode of combination of Push and Pull, and optimize the workshop locale management at the same time.The sixth part is the control of finished product inventory.
