In order to solve the contradiction between satisfying the demand of mass production and meeting the small batches but multi-varieties market demand with Group Techonology,12 typical brief solid wooden chairs are as objects in this paper. It is a research on optimization of the parts size, the tenon-and-mortise joints as well as processing locate mode. Research results are as follows:(1) For 12 typical brief solid wooden chair parts'sizes, the kinds of thickness size reduces from 31 to 16, and the one of width size reduces from 42 to 22, reduced 48.4% and 47.6%.(2) One of the group optimization principles is keeping the unity of width and thickness according to the ladder steps principle, the simplified scope of thickness size is 2mm, and the one of width size is 5mm, with no impact on chair's structure and modeling as premise,the other is multiple parts.If the width of wangban and ladang satisfied the relationship:Wwb= n' Wld+(n-1)'Wj, it will realize the goal of improving the production efficiency and reducing cost, "n" is a natural number less than 4, "Wj" is the width of sawing road.(3) As 12 brief solid wooden chairs as a unit, production of several units daily, after optimization group, the processing preparation time of parts'size reduces 80.3%.(4) According to the principle of Group Technology, after optimization of the size and position of elliptic tenons and mortises, the processing preparation time of parts'size could reduce 54%.
