Forging is a process used to form metal into large quantities of identical parts. It is oftenused in the manufacturing process of automobiles and to improve the properties of the metalbeing used. Forging machine tool is a kind of devices which is used for cold processing ofmetal and machining. With the rapid development of industrial technology, forging equipment,due to its versatile features with high efficiency and easy operation, is widely used inmachinery, electrical appliances, vehicles, appliances, papermaking and other processingindustries. For a wide range of applications available in the field of production of real life, thereexist many security issues.This paper summarizes classification and composition of the forging machine and analysisof the types of safety devices of forging machine.First of all,photoelectric safety device, alsoknown as "raster" or "electric eye," which use a light transmitter and receiver to protect if there isany obstruction in the way that breaks the light beam.Secondly, punching machine is listedaccording to the classification of Forging machine, which is installed on the press die on the partof the slider. Upper die base is the part on the top plate which close to the press slide whileworking and fixed with the slider,,directly through the module handle . Die holders is tubularpart that attach to the tailstock of a lathe. With the die installed, the holder may remain stationaryas the material to be cut on the spindle is advanced into the die, or the material to be cut canremain stationary and the die holder is made to rotate in the tailstock.Further information ofworking principle and classification is introduced and a fatal flaw of technical safety equipmentof punching machine is pointed out . Finally, according to the present safety situation ofpunching machine,protection of personal safety system based on modular light curtains isdesigned. Modular light curtains are protective devices that output stop signals, which can beused as principle protection for punches or machines where the movement of the functional partscan be interrupted at any moment in a dangerous phase. Modular light curtains have a very widerange of applications, for example,in order to keep sending the materials,if installed security door,the operators need to frequently open the protective doors, it will increase the workload of theoperator and reduces productivity.
