Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) which aims to adapt to market demands with the character of multi-specification, pilot run, and rapid iteration is an advanced system. As for pipes in steel structure with multi-geometries intersections, there is reconfigurable pipe cutting system, which is reconfigurable for the reconfigurable pipe cutting machines and the reconfigurable pipe cutting control system. This paper present a design method of reconfigurable pipe cutting machine and build a soft platform for the reconfigurable pipe cutting control system which can satisfy the popular cutting of cylinder pipes, taper pipes and rectangle pipe in practice.Chapter2 presents the design method for the configuration of reconfigurable cutting machine. Based on FBS and AD, an adaptive FBS has been built for RMT design. Integrating Lie subgroup or submanifold and Quotient kinematics, the working motion has been composed into the motion of workpiece and the torch which are both described in Liegroup and all the potential configurations. With Pugh Matrix, optimized configurations are sifted and homologous modules are picked out from module library to achieve the optimal machine tool.Chapter3 studies on the solution methods of cutting tasks. Methods based on both mathematical library and graph programmings are discussed. And the comparison between them is also made to show their advantages and disadvantages respectively.Chapter4 describes the implementation of the reconfigurable pipe cutting control system and the software platform.
