Nowadays, both in China and abroad, the reserch and the engineering aplication of the performance analysis and structure optimization in NC lathe have got a great progress. But, to a purticular NC lathe, the design method to reduce the cost of design which is at the stage of design by analyzing its performance and modifying its structure still contains many theoretical and technical issues. So, in this thesis, the SL-32 NC lathe is the research object,the kinematics and dynamics of the whole NC was simulated, the performance and the structure optimization of lathe bed was comprehensive, systematic and in-depth studied. The results provide the lathe's analysis foundation of the lathe's performance and the initial optimizm programme for the enterprise. Also the result allows the enterprise to shorten the design cycle and improve the quality of the product. In this thesis, the course of this study mainly contains the follwing contents:The basic method of lathe's performance analysis and the research status of the structural optimization of the was comprehensive and systematic analyzed.The lathe's parts was modeled and the lathe was assemblied by using the SolidWorks software. Then according to Mechanical Theory and the requirements of simualting and analysing software, some of the lathe's parts was simlified.Because of the complex structure,high precision technology, the motion and the stress of the structural components are very complex. So, determining the paremeters of the stress and motion accuratly is important to the lathe's analysis and improvement.In this thesis,the virtual prototype technology was applied in NC lathe.The virtual prototype of the NC lathe was modeled, and it was simulated with the methods of dynamics and kinematics. Then extracted the dynamic and kinematic parameters of the NC lathe's key parts, the parameters provide the basic parameters for the performance analysis and structure optimization about the structure of NC lathe's bed. The lathe bed's static analysis and modal analysis were carried out.Then according to the results of static analysis and modal analysis, the lathe bed's performance was evaluated.The static analysis and modal analysis of the NC lathe laid a foundation for the structure optimization and dynamics improvement.There is a big design margin of the lathe bed.For the purpose of saving material and exploring the better structure of lathe bed, basing on ensuring the stiffness and strength of lathe bed, targeting on the low natural frequency of lathe bed,l etting rib layout and rib's design parameters as variables, the lathe bed was optimized by using of the ANSYS Workbench.By comparing the optimized structure and the original bed structure, we can see that by optimizing the structure of lathe bed the quality and performance were greatly improved.
