Steel wire rope as a large engineering indispensable key components, are widely used in machinery, construction industry, transportation, mining and aerospace, etc. Because of the pursuit of construction quality and efficiency, wire rope is used in big load and high strength, in order to ensure safety orderly, the quality and performance of the steel wire rope is required higher and higher. Not only the steel wire rope take tension in an upright position, but also generally passed a sheave or wheel system, this makes the stress of the wire rope more complex in service.To study round place wire rope stress-strain deeply,is to provide the scientific basis for wire rope designing, selection and failure analysis.Firstly this paper analyzed the structure of wire rope, establishes the geometry model of the upright wire rope, and the geometric model of the rope round place wire rope. Makeing the Computer Simulation program using MATLAB calculate wire curvature and flexible rate in different twist direction. The 3D model of steel wire rope established by the Pro/E directly introduced into the ANSYS, and then analysised the stress-strain of the steel wire rope under various circumstances, studied the influence to stress-strain by the diameter of the steel wire rope, the diameter of the sheave and twisting distance of wire, the analysis mathod and conclusions using for the system which have a sheave has certain guiding significance in the designing, the manufacture, the selection of the steel wire rope.
