Chemical protective clothing is a kind of clothes which the firefighter must put on when they approach to the scene of the fire or accidents,as well as terror attacks and emergency rescue, in order to protect people from chemical agent or corrosive things. The out layer of chemical protective clothing bears the brunt of any damages, so it must has corrosion resistance. PPS fiber has excellent resistant ability against heat, corrosive, flame and so on. So it is a good choice on the field of chemical protective clothing. However, there are seldom application research have been done before.PPS fabric meets the basic requirements of fire-fighting suit. This topic mainly does further research on coating of PPS fabrics, in order to obtain the ability of corrosion resistant, according to GA 770-2008, for the applied basic research of PPS on the field of fire-fighting suit.Firstly, according to the similar dissolve mutually theory, put PPS powders evenly on the surface of PPS fabric, by means of hot-pressing, they were both connected. However, due to the highly crystallization of PPS powders, they are fragile and crispy after melting. So PPS powders can not be used as the coating of PPS fabrics.And then, PTFE film is used as the coating of PPS fabrics, in order to get the ability of resistance to permeation by chemicals. PTFE emulsion mixed with silane coupling agent is used to process the surface of PPS fabrics, with the cooperation of SINOMA. And a layer of polymer modification membrane is formed. After that, PTFE film is hot-pressed on the surface of the modified PPS fabrics. Both mixed formula A and B that are used can make PTFE film join with PPS fabrics appropriately.According to the requirements of GA 770-2008 on the layer of fire-fighting clothing, basic properties of coating fabric, such as tensile, tearing, air permeability, as well as corrosive resistant and flame retardant, have been tested. For the limit of experimental conditions, EN 374 is used for the determination of resistance to permeation by chemical.The results of basic tests show that the coating fabric can meet the requirements of GA 770-2008; Vertical burning method is applied to measure the flame retardant of the coating fabric. The damaged length of both W and T direction can meet the requirements. Besides, the renewal burning time and afterglow time of the coating fabric are both Os. There is no melt drops during the combustion process. The results of the determination of resistance to permeation by 96% H2SO4 and 40%NAOH of coating fabrics processed by formula B are both level 1.This topic has lay foundation on further research.
