Polymeric dyes have been widely used in photolectrial material, biomedical and some other fields since ti was firstly synthesized in 1970 for it has both the spectrally selecting absorption of dyes and the stability, hypotoxicity of the high molecular polymer. Polymeric dyes provide new sights in textile dyeing. Cationic dyes can give textile cationic groups and antimicrobial property in salt-free dyeing. So it was very meaningful to research the synthesis of Cationic polymer reactive dyes which can give textile antimicrobial proerty while dyeing.A kind of crosslinkable polymeric dye and two different chromophoric group of cationic polymeric reactive dyes were designed and synthesized in this paper. The crosslinkable polymeric dye was prepared by grafting small molecule 3-phenyl azo dyes-4-p-5-[(4,6-chloride)-1,3,5-triazine] amino-2,7--naphthalene sulfonic acid sodium salt (commonly known as reactive dye X-3B) on to the polyethylene imine (PEI), which contraining a large number of active groups and crosslinkable groups (amino). Cationic polymer reactive dyes were firstly synthesized by grafting two different reactive dyes maternal (reactive dye X-RG and the 2-(1-Anthraquinonylamino)-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine) to the molecular chain of PEI, then the N atoms were modified, grained the dyes which have the high molecular weight and good dyeing properties to cotton fiber with antibacterial effect. The most proper conditions were studied and the effects of temperature, pH value, time, and solvent on the reactions were discussed. The cationic polymeric dye II were prepared via one procedure of reaction:quaterisation with methyl iodide; And the cationic polymeric dye III were two steps:tertiary amination by propylene oxide and quaterisation with quaternization agent (benzyl chloride). The chemical structures of the products were characterized with UV and FTIR spectra. The thermal stability of the products were characterized with TG. The maximum wave length (λmax) of the dyes were 528 nm,428nm and 436 nm.The contton fabrics were dyed using pad dyeing method with the crosslinkabled polymeric reactive dyes I, and for fixing with the cross-linking agent, the Crosslinking agent usage and pH were investigated, color fastness of dyed fabrics have been tested. Experimental results indicate that the crosslinker concentration were 4%, pH was 7, fixation rate reached 96% cotton fabric. The cotton fabrics and wool were dyed using dip-dye method, and the dyeing conditions were discussed. From the experiments, we could arrive a conclusion that the fixation rate on cotton of the polymeric dyes reached 50% when the dyeing temperature was 95℃, the dyes dosages were 2% and the fixation time was 55 minutes. On wool, it reached 40% when the dyeing temperature was 95℃, the dyes dosages were 2% and the keeping time was 60 minutes. The rub-fastness of polymeric dyes on cotton reached 3-4 grade respectively.
