Cold Roll Forming has been widely used in China form the1980s and1990s, which is an advanced and efficient sheet forming technology and hassignificant economic and social benefits. However, the roll forming process is athree-dimensional elastic-plastic large deformation problem, which is related tomany aspects such us geometry, kinematics, dynamics. Because of lack oftechnical data, engineers often need to explore, and solve the engineeringproblems with the method of "Try Out Method". Cold roll forming process isstill generally considered to be a "Proprietary Technology". Different companies,with the same technical problem occurring repeatedly, are causing a great wasteof manpower and resources.With the development of Finite Element Analysis software and computertechnology, the adoption of FEA simulation of roll forming process has had agreat practical significance in the aspects of plate deformation prediction,production prediction, process optimization and mould design.Steel sheet pile as a new environmentally construction steel, is widely usedin quays, embankment bulkhead, retaining walls, docks, cofferdam and so on.Steel sheet pile has a lot of the varieties and specification, whose shape ofcross-section is also complicated, and who forming process isn't supportedauthentic data. This paper takes the designing process of2H steel sheet pile asan example, to illustrate a feasible process means and methods in cold rollforming process through the study of this subject, and theoretical results areapplied to actual production, and enhance the understanding of the cold rollforming process.Firstly, we introduces the development of the cold roll forming inside andoutside our country and human explores the roll forming mechanism, andgeneralizes a variety of methods to solve roll forming to expound thebackground and significance of this article. Secondly, the paper makes thosemuch abstract finite element theories which are involved in the numerical simulation of cold-roll forming into embodiment and proof, then makes thembecome the basis of the roll forming finite element numerical simulation. In thethird chapter, this paper mainly introduces2H steel sheet pile design process,then sets a model basing on a reasonable simplification, then successfullysimulates the forming process of the steel sheet pile using finite elementsoftware MSC Marc. In the fourth chapter, comparing the actual cross-sectionparameters and theoretical cross-section parameters per pass, we come to aplace prone to defects, and if design parameters in theory meet the requirements.Then we analyze the variation of the forming force. Comparing simulationresults and theoretical calculation results and the actual results, we verify thevalidity and reliability of the simulation method and the correctness of thecalculation results, and prove that the finite element software to simulate thecold-forming process is indeed feasible. In the last part of the article, theauthor's work is reviewed and summarized, and puts forward some furtherresearch problems.
