Refining process via alcoholization and hydrocarbonylation for ammonia synthesis feedstock gas is an advanced process for it can obtain useful byproducts methanol and hydrocarbon fuels simultaneously. Energy saving and discharge reduction might be realized if simulation, analysis and optimization are undertaken for this process. In this study simulation calculation and energy consuming evaluation for refining process via alcoholization and hydrocarbonylation for ammonia synthesis feedstock gas of a corporation were conducted using Aspen Plus, Aspen Energy Analyzer and Visual Basic as assisting tools. Datum for mass and energy balance were obtained by simulation calculation. The calculated methanol product was19.017t/d, which is in the range of the design value18-20t/d and the hydrocarbon product was1.429t/d t/d, which is in the range of the design value1.4-2.0t/d. The calculated water content of hydrocarbon was62.11%, which is also in the range of the actual value range60-70%.Heat exchange network(HEN) was designed using single temperature difference method based on pinch technology theory and the network was also optimized via heat loop breaking and energy relaxation techniques for calculation tool and the optimum hot and cold utilities were obtained; Anther HEN was also designed using virtual temperature method using Visual Basic to lessen the number of HEN. Finally, energy consuming status for this process was evaluated and the results can be used as a reference for improvement of the process.
