In the road construction, the asphalt pavement has been widely used for its good pavement performance, the asphalt pavement mostly adopts the traditional material HMA(Hot Mix Asphalt). The production and construction of HMA require high temperature, so it not only consumes a large amount of energy but also emits abundant of emissions and fumes which threaten the surrounding environment and the health of workers during the process of produce and construct. WMA(Warm Mix Asphalt)as a new energy-saving and environment-protecting product could force asphalt to be mixed and compacted in a comparatively low temperature by the means of reducing its viscosity, meanwhile, it could maintain its road performance which dose not below even better than that of HMA, and furthermore carried out the purpose of energy-saving and environment-protecting.Modified asphalt mixture requuires higher temperature of its production and construction than that of ordinary asphalt mixture. This paper mainly studies the modified asphalt(ESSO-SBS^ SK-SBS) mixture with the assistance of viscosity-reducers which are SAK and EC 120. The results of performance on asphalt binding and asphalt mixtures stated that the viscosity-reducers, such as SAK or EC 120, with a properly quantity mixed into the modified asphalt could effectively reduce asphalt's high temperature viscosity, so that it also could lower the mix and compaction temperature of the asphalt mixture; The high temperature performance of modified asphalt is improved greatly, with the low temperature performance of modified asphalt as it is more or less the same; Pavement performance,the high temperature stability of warm-mixed modified asphalt mixture are improved to varying degrees, the low temperature anti-cracking property is lowered, and the water stability is influenced by either positive or negative effects, bur theyt can meet regulatory requirements. This shows that the both viscosity-reducers (in particular the EC 120) not only can lower the production and construction temperature of modified asphalt mixture but also can improve or maintain the road performance of the modified asphalt mixture, and which have obvious social and economic benefit.
