The ancient bridge reflects cultural connotation and characteristics of China, shows the spirit and wisdom of peoples. It is also the typical specimen of social productivity and technology development level in the various historical periods. But with the rapid development of society, there is a certain contradiction between ancient bridge's protection and modern construction. In order to transmit and protect the ancient bridge culture, this paper reviews the historical development of Chinese ancient bridge. Then sum up by comprehensive induction from the metrical, structure type, line shape and construction for existing ancient bridges. The exiting quantity of Chinese ancient stone arch bridge is largest, so make it as the research object. This paper does static and dynamic analysis of ancient stone arch bridge using modern technology. At the same time, propose the concept design of monitoring system based on the Internet of Things and fuzzy comprehensive assessment. These works provide the basis for the protection of ancient bridge. Specific research works carry out:(1)This article discusses the history of arch mechanics and reviews the classical elastic center method for arch bridge. Then a three-dimensional finite element model is established using ANSYS, considering different materials performance of the fill, arch will and arch. The results show that structure is almost in compression under different working conditions. But stress in the local stress concentration is close to or over the allowable strength of mortar or earth fill. Appropriate measures should be taken to increase the strength of mortar.(2)The monitoring system of ancient stone arch bridge first introduces the internet of things, to achieve remote real-time monitoring and protection. Then taking a typical ancient stone arch bridge for an example, monitoring project and sensors layout are proposed. The composition of each acquisition unit and the way of data acquisition and transmission are discussed. This is a new conservation model for heritage. (3)According to own characteristics of Chinese ancient bridge, comprehensive evaluation index systems for different types of ancient bridge are offered from the structural condition, condition and heritage value, etc. Then an ancient stone arch bridge is comprehensive evaluated using fuzzy AHP under monitoring data and uncertainty matrix combining expertise.(4)This article summarizes apparent disease and structural damage of ancient stone arch bridge, and propose the corresponding protection way. Preliminary works are structural analysis, monitoring and Evaluation. This protection process for ancient stone arch bridge mainly includes preliminary works, protective treatment, structural strengthening, environmental remediation and registration management.
