As the main current vehicle auxiliary braking device, the eddy current retarder brakeing system depletion energy holds the 56%92% of the total energy. Obviously it reduces the work load for automobile main brake and improves vehicle safety and stability of the brake. But it also consumes the vehicles energy, so the self-motivation eddy current retarder is emerged. At present, the institutions begining to study self-motivated eddy current retarder gradually are increaseing. the paper mainly studys the self-motivated eddy current retarder of the self-motivation system based on the domestic auto industry.In this paper, the self-motivation retarder achieves self-motivated based on which the car in the braking process will generate the mechanical power into electronic power by generator. Generators with the electromagnetic clutch chassis connect retarder rotor by the pulley which fixed in the car. which achieves energy conversion when the retarder rotors and timely the electromagnetic clutch absorpts. This article work is that introducs the current retarder consumpting the braking energy in the narrative, so we get self-motivation eddy current retarder of necessity.Then introduce mechanical structure, principle, self-motivation storage, installation and controlling. Secondly, based on the previous eddy current retarder braking torque model, I creat the new one and calculate the size of excitation current when given the braking torque, so define the parameters of the motor in the self-motivation system. Thirdly, calculate the the parameters of motor and super capacitor energy storage generators, and design detailly the three-phase half controlled bridge electronic power supply circuit, self-excited system charging circuit and self-excited eddy current retarder controller circuit. Finally, from the total vehicle system I simulate and analysis the vehicle energy feedback, the vehicle system controller MOSFET's Parallel flow and current sharing. Aslo do some experiments on Regulator circuit and the electronic controller circuit to certify the feasibility design.
