Through in-depth research, the thesis proposed quasi-elliptical shaped cross section design proposal to 2888t·m railway jib unit for the first time. In the light of the scheme, the detailed design of the jib unit has been launched. After the calculation in traditional theory, the model of the jib unit was created in 3D space and it mechanical properties was analyzed with the aid of formidable finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench. With the help of seamless connection to the model building, structure analysis and optimization modules, this thesis has carried on the finite element optimization to the jib united.At first, some introductions and contrast to the domestic and foreign railway construction and railway rescue crane have been made in this thesis. And the significance of this thesis has been derived through the contrast. The deep research of both automobile crane jib unit and railway rescue crane jib unit has been carried on. And the plan of 2888t·m railway crane' jib has been proposed which based on the key technologies of both railway rescue crane and automobile crane.In the following, a detailed design of the quasi-elliptical shaped jib has been carried out. Including the detailed design of the jib united which has been deep considered. After that, by studying the various railway rescue crane working condition and load,12 typical conditions was determined. A part of key size parameters can be calculated based on the working conditions.As followed, after the determination of working conditions and parameters, this thesis carried on a traditional theory calculation to the jib. Through the imposition of the harsh conditions of loading, the strength, stiffness and stability of the jib was calculated. And we can find out whether it meets the requirements or not based on the result. As we know, compared with finite element analysis method, the traditional theory calculation is quite sketchy and has many simplifications. Therefore the computational accuracy is not high and it is difficult to calculate the slider local stress especially. So ANSYS Workbench has been used to analyze the mechanical properties of the railway rescue crane jib which is considered as a mature finite element analysis tools. The 3D model of jib system has been established in ANSYS Workbench. After that, the mechanics analysis has been taken to the two harshest working conditions of 2888t·m railway rescue crane's jib after follow out all FEA typical steps such as:meshing, loading, solving and post-processing.Finally, by studying the FEA result, it can be found that the stiffness and strength of the jib have large surplus. Hence, in order to improve the mechanics capabilities of the jib, it is necessary to carry on the FEA structural optimization for it. In the finite element analysis process, one of the most important jobs is to locate the parameters which have a great influence on the mechanics capabilities of the jib, and optimize these parameters. And finally, the jib achieves lighter weight under the premise of enough strength, high stiffness and good stability.
