Power Line video surveillance system is a video surveillance system based on power line communication network as the name implies. This research aimed at realizing a video surveillance system that can be easily deployed in small environment such as laboratories, homes and marines with power line.Power Line Communication (PLC) is a communication technology that refers to using power line as a medium for data and signal transmission. To design a Power line video surveillance system, first, there is the need to design a power line communication access hardware module and at the same time, take into account the characteristics of real time video transmission of large multimedia data. After doing some research of the current mainstream of PLC integrated chip, considering the communication distance and load requirements, Intellon's INT55MX Turbo SIMPLE module with PLC physical layer data rate of 85Mb/s as the core PLC hardware module design circuit was chosen and used as the basis for the design-related peripheral circuits.The video surveillance system has client/server (C/S) mode. The terminals include video capture, video encoding and decoding, network transmission, video playback, storage, and related control functions. Through information verification and comparative study by using S3C2440 processor module as the core of the controller module not only to achieve the functional requirements, but also in line with the current direction of development of video surveillance. The processor runs on Linux operating system with reduced kernel functions and the software development platform is on Linux Fedora 10.The results and analysis of the research show that the INT55MX Turbo SIMPLE PLC module as the subject of the hardware design of the core circuit for access can reach up to 50m distance. Test data through the system can reach less than 10 monitoring points in the load requirements. Thus we can see the system is entirely suitable and easily deployed in small environment, such as laboratories, homes and marines. Linux Fedora10 development platform provides a friendly programming interface, a sound program design, compilation, debugging and other functions. S3C2440 processor module as the core design of the controller module (including monitor front and centralized monitoring side) provides the necessary hardware for the realization of various functions of video surveillance. After debugging the hardware and software, both server and client software did not only achieve the original design features, but also the system is stable and has a strong functional scalability. After system performance test, the basic design of the system achieved the objectives and requirements.The research ultimate goal is the integration of such a system terminal. After research work, the system is entirely feasible and has a price advantage to other current similar products.
