For pedestrian, especially the elderly, children and disabled, it is difficult to cross the street once. When the delay beyond psychological extreme waiting limit, most pedestrian would be violation. Pedestrian minimum green time may influence the vehicle signal timing. As the method to enhance the pedestrian crossing safety and convenience, pedestrian twice crossing(PTC) is more applicable and its cost is less than the overpass and underpass. Therefore, this dissertation studies the traffic organization methods and the applicability of PTC.At first, the dissertation generalizes the pedestrian traffic characteristics and psychological features, introduces the pedestrian theory and method, traffic flow will be twice crossing into straight-line method of organization, type and island-type dislocation in three forms, and focus Analysis of four-phase signal control method, the secondary structure of crossing facilities set the standard for the study, and psychological limits to pedestrians wait for the standard, the use can be across the gap theory, signal timing theory. The theoretical analysis the applicability of organization of specific traffic conditions:Take examples for Pedestrians crossing at West YueCheng street. Pedestrians crossing at ShawanRroad Outspread Line street, Pedestrians twice crossing at the junction of west second section Road in Chengdu and Qinghua Road. Because both sides intersection traffic lights suffer great influence and small pedestrian delay when people cross the street, Pedestrians crossing at West YueCheng street appropriate setting pedestrians twice crossing. For little pedestrian setting pedestrians twice crossing will make a large increase in motor vehicle delay, Pedestrians crossing at ShawanRroad Outspread Line street no suit for setting pedestrians twice crossing. Pedestrians twice crossing at the junction of west second section Road in Chengdu and Qinghua Road reduce the influence to phase of motor, can effectively increase the time when pedestrian crossing street, setting twice crossing can be more appropriate.
