Driver's valve (emergency valve) plays a critical role in brake system of locomotives. When there is an emergency situation, drivers need to operate driver's valve to stop the train in order to stop the train in shortest time. Therefore, the performance of driver's valve will influence the safety of locomotives directly. Integrated electronic control should be used in driver's valve to achieve good performance.In order to accurately and reliably test the electrical, mechanical and functional performance of driver's valve, a complete test system need to be developed. This test system requires accurate performance to validate all functional performance of driver's valve ensure its quality and reliable. It is significant for braking system, even operation and safety of locomotives to develop this test system.Many institutes and association, such as Locomotive and Car Research Institute China Academy of Railway Sciences, Sifang locomotive and rolling stock Institute, Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute, have carried out work research of driver's valve in domestic. Foreign brake system supplier, such as Faiveley Transport, Knorr-Bremse, have developed test bench for driver's valve. The test bench uses many advanced control technology, including pneumatic control systems, precision and force sensors, pressure sensors for closed loop control system.Electronic driver's valve have become key components of locomotive brake system, increasing a number of electronic feedback loop, which need to perform integrated test, such as functional and electrical and mechanical performance. Test efficiency and precision need to be improved and have higher requirements. Transducer signal acquisition and data processing also need to do the appropriate calculations; the force and pressure test data of test bench are transformed by force transducer and pressure transducer which transmit this signal to the high response rate data acquisition board. Finally, test bench receive the data of force and pressure. The test bench has the advantage of low noise, high reliability, precise control and energy saving features. In this paper, a test bench is developed for electronic driver's valve which used in HXD2 electric locomotive, using computer control, pneumatic control to perform test.The main objective of this research project is to develop the test bench of electronic driver's valve, design electronic control system, pneumatic control system and test program. Test specification and test procedure are defined according to driver's valve of HXD2 electric locomotive, which is complied with corresponding standard. The main content of the pneumatic and electronic design and test software programming in order to achieve accurate testing of electronic drivers valve.
