"5.12"earthquake provides valuable condition for researching seismic design code. It is important to promote the development of seismic code and improve the seismic capacity of the road.The main research contents in this paper are as follows:(I)Based on the seismic damage investigation of the G213 Highway shoulder retaining wall in 9 degree earthquake zone, we draw the following conclusions: practice survey show the reason of the shoulder wall's incline distortion was the foundation stress went beyond the bearing capacity. By theoretical calculation, the computation of retaining wall also show that foundation bearing capacity is the least likely condition to meet and the controlling factors to resist earthquake., the foundation bearing capacity should be checked firstly during checking the seismic stability of the highway retaining wall.(2)The base capacity for the amendment,it does not take into account various effects combinations of the probability of simultaneous size. calculated by this combination, Foundation bearing capacity is larger than the actual capacity, therefore, the foundation bearing capacity should multiply by a resistance coefficient greater than 1.0. But the earthquake has shown the characteristics of bimodal long duration,it is decided that not all checking should amend the bearing capacity.So,it is not suggested that increase the bearing capacity according to the base calculation,in the proposed department of Anping earthquake of long duration.(3)In Wenchuan earthquake G213,failure modes of mortar rubble destructd retaining wall is cracking along the seam after the retaining wall collapse puzzle, leading to collapse. Mortar rubble retaining wall is not completely rigid retaining walls, above earth pressure in the shock effect, the surface tension bulge slope.while the back slope is undering pressure.In the middle there is a neutral surface,Under the action of the tension.the slope of retaining wall crack along the weak structure of mortar joints。Therefore, a large number of mortar rubble showing a part of the disintegration of the surface slope, back slope remains working.(4)By actual earthquake statistics and checking seismic capacity, we found that the slope behind cutting the wall affect the stability.(5)In the Wenchuan earthquake. retaining wall was constructed in the new engineering of Puhong road. Design method of retaining wall was supplied briefly according to the geotechnical condition of Puhong road. Evaluation content technical measures of deformation monitoring and the points for attention of maintenance of retaining wall post-earthquake was prompted.
