With the rapid growth of the national ecomony, highway business has been considerably developed in China, the beginning of the highway network has been scaled, various grades of road network has been encrypted constantly. Meanwhile, highway construction quality and operation of quality problems has drawn increasing attention. Among them, the key technical issue is the quality of highway construction and defect inspection method. For a long time, conventional methods of highway can be divided into two types of detection: one is the apparent detection, it relies on direct observation or testing by means of mapping tools (ruler, level, theodolite) and highway departments have special equipment (bumps cumulative instrument, formation tester, apparatus Sideway coefficient, etc.) for non-destructive testing for road surface, roadbed construction process quality evaluation and assessment of road operating conditions. Although this intuitive and easy detection, but not on the road to make the internal evaluation of hidden structure, limited to the detection and evaluation of the geometric scale, nor the mechanics of testing and evaluation indicators. The other is engineering test, which is already in use in highway or road embankment construction, bedding, grass roots and the surface layer only certain way to use random samples, testing its thickness, degree of compaction, with water, compressive strength, Wan Shen values, stability and other indicators, looking for the existence of bad risks. Such detection methods and in situ test for field and laboratory testing of two samples, such detection techniques for sampling points through the mechanical parameters of highway engineering, construction quality and the use of the highway to make a more comprehensive assessment of the state. Although the detection technology has become the standard method of evaluation of road detection, road detection is included in our specifications, but some are detrimental to detect the existence of some low efficiency and high cost of sample problems, reach the international advanced non-destructive, accurate and scientific evaluation of the quality of roads, need to study road testing new technologies and new methods.In the XiShang highway tunnel construction, the ground penetrating radar technology has been widely adopted, from the operating tunnel disease detection, to the new tunnel construction quality control, which has been applicated widely more and more .In practice, because of the difference between the structure of knowledge and the understanding of knowledge, the translation of the results of radar images are often different, and even cause that the test results devite the actual situation. The article focuses on the ground penetrating radar technology for geological prediction and tunnel lining nondestructive testing, etc., For the tunnel construction safety and construction quality provide an important guarantee . One of the more rapid development areas is Tunnel testing . Ground penetrating radar technology has been used to detect and evalute the situation of the existing tunnel by the Rail, Road transport and Water departments, and a large number of whcih has been adopted in new projects ,which has been used to control process and timely discover quality defects durning the phase of construction, so that the GPR has becomed the indispensable means in Xishang highway construction quality montoring.
