With the expansion of cities, explosion of population and further deterioration of the living environment.Therefore, the various themes which reflect the bygone tranquil and romantic rural garden style combined with new modern concepts, ideas and manifestations thus appear in environmental landscape design and are widely praised.This thesis is divided into six chapters. On the basis of a detailed introduction to the background, content, method, current situation, significance and framework of subject research, this paper summarizes concept, scope, properties, significance, components and morphological classifications of pastoral landscape and gives a specific demonstration of design theory and methodology on topographical design, architectural design, water body design, plant design, the design for survival and play of animal, cultural elements design, production planning design, as well as operation and planning with pastoral landscape as tourism resources. Finally, it explains the regression significance and concrete utilization of pastoral landscape in modern landscape design to bring out the theme, demonstrates and summarizes several successfully implemented cases of design schemes and a design scheme participated in by the author—agricultural touring resort plan & design of Tai Lake in Yixing to obtain the final research results:1. further illustrating the concept and connotation of pastoral landscape, and confirming the important status and regression significance of pastoral landscape culture in contemporary landscape design; 2. determining design principles and landscaping methods in the field of pastoral landscape design; 3. applying the obtained relative design principles and landscaping methods into design cases.
