With the development of economic globalization and industrial informatization, the ability of rapid response to the market becomes a core competitiveness of enterprises. The ability needs strong product research and development capacity and high quality production capacity. As a key link of product development and an important means of product quality insurance, test is beening paid more and more attention by enterprises. Rising numbers of test of innovative products have continuously increased the difficulty of test process management, test plot backtracking and test data usage. In order to solve these problems and accumulate experiences in research, development and manufacturing, test data management system (TDMS) came into being. In the background of development and implementation of TDMS for a large engineering machinery manufacturing enterprise, an in-depth research of test equipment management in TDMS was taken in and the urgent problems in managing and using test equipments were solved.First of all, a function model of test equipment management was studied. On the analysis of enterprise requirements on test equipments and equipment using characteristics, a system target of equipment management was put forward and a system function model was established to satisfy the enterprises'test needs.Secondly, main problems were focused in equipment management and these problems were summarized into four aspects of technology: equipment classification and parameter management, equipment group management, using plan of equipment, and circulation management:By describing the common methods of classification and the steps to classify the test equipment, a feature-based classification method was proposed based on the necessity of equipment parameters.Analyzed the relationship between major test equipment and its peripheral equipments, and a template model of major and auxiliary equipment group was raised. Described the defects of current equipment selection method, then a template method was put forward and some steps to use the templates were illustrated.On the analysis of the general process of applying, approving, lending and returning test equipment, a circulation management model was brought forward.Again, by analyzing a number of experimental constraints of tests and equipment usage, an equipment scheduling model is proposed aimed to maximize usage of equipments and minimize test duration.Finally, introduced a multi-tier architecture model based on the Microsoft-based dot net framework Technology, an equipment management system was realized and implemented based on these software technologies. Then some examples were illustrated and a prototype system application was demonstrated.
