In the civil aircraft industry,the individual needs of customers are increasing. Currently, the mainstream configuration mode can't be well positioned to meet these individual needs. Many individual needs are ignored by enterprises, which is increasingly not in line with the current market trends. This paper analyzes the main features of the current mainstream of Configuration mode. Then, put forward and develop theories of the configuration mode as well as studying in-depth about the key technologies in it.This paper brings up a new configuration mode driven by customer options for civil aircraft. This model integrates the advantages of the current configuration modes with customer options in order to meet the individual needs of customers and keep the production efficiency at the same time. The key part of the new model is customer options. On one hand, the option is used to collect the customers'needs, driving product configuration; On the other hand, it is used to realize the individual needs of customers. The customer options are related with the product module, so product configuration is confirmed if customer options are confirmed. So customer options can drive the product configuration.In the current mainstream of Configuration mode, customer options are created after the product development. Therefore, there are limitations on the expression of customer requirements. Customer options in this paper are prior to the product development, which makes customer expression unlimited. In the current literature, there are still no methods for the creation of customer options. To compensate for this, this paper proposes methods for the creation of customer options due to correlation matrix method. Drive the creation of customer options according to customer needs, in order to have a more accurate expression of customer demands.Individual needs of customers are not taken seriously in the current configuration mode. The research on the individual needs of customers can not only better meet customer needs, but also achieve to grasp and predict the market. Based on Cluster analysis of gray, this paper proposes approaches of customized needs. Thus, customized needs are achieved to be handled.In the end, we develop the civil aircraft product configuration system based on the Windchill9.1 system from PTC. We can create customers option and drive the product configuration in the system. We take the seat of the ARJ21-700 as an example to check the system.In summary, it is feasible of Configuration mode of civil aircraft products and key technologies proposed in this paper. It has a certain reference value for product configurations and methods of the theory on the field of civil aircraft in China and the world.
